However, a number of oil refineries are now making the transition to more fuel-efficient vehicles that produce less carbon and other greenhouse gases. As a result, these refineries are now using potent new technologies to make more fuel-efficient cars. Eighteen fleets were recently established for
their use of alternative fuel vehicles. NGV America and the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation (CVEF), two groups dedicated to promoting the use of alternative fuel vehicles, presented the winners of their annual NGV ( Nationwide Vehicle Donation) awards. Of the eighteen new and established refineries, eight are located in the United States. Among these eight, six have emergency operation plans in place.

According to the Association of International Oil Refineries, which is one of the largest trade associations in the oil industry, “missions that meet current regulations can provide a substantial cost savings and improved safety.” In order to meet regulations, most oil refineries must be using diesel engines. However, these engines produce less power than gasoline engines, which provide better economy and greater safety. Diesel trucks can also reduce emissions and sulfur oxide levels in the air.

They are equipped with technologies that make them more energy efficient and lower emissions.” NGV provides heavy-duty natural-gas fueling stations at 18 refineries throughout the United States. In addition to providing these services, they also provide a nationwide network of service technicians that offer a variety of vehicle maintenance services including engine repair, transmission repair, and oil changes, all at a convenient location.

It also causes fewer emissions, produces less smoke and has a regenerative-braking system that helps maintain proper fuel economy.” As technology improves and natural-gas prices continue to drop, more Americans are switching to NGV vehicles. According to a recent study by the Natural Resources Defense Council, the trend is expected to continue for at least five years. NGV trucks and other natural gas powered vehicles can also reduce greenhouse gases, improve air quality, and reduce dependence on petroleum.
Natural gas is a clean burning fuel
that is made from fossil fuels like coal and crude oil. Although it is a relatively new technology, the use of natural gas-powered vehicles is catching on in the United States.
